Welcome to Access To Movement

What is Access to Movement?

Research shows that physical exercise and movement can be beneficial to those living with mental health challenges. Access To Movement is a project which aims to fund/subsidise personal training, fitness and other health based sessions for those living with anxiety and/or depression, and who otherwise may not have the means.

Access To Movement is a non-profit project dedicated to supporting the health and fitness of those individuals . Our mission is to provide access to physical and lifestyle health services for all.

How does it work?

At it's core, the Access to Movement project uses crowdfunding to offer access to health and fitness professionals to people who might not otherwise have it. We work with a select group of personal trainers who believe that wellbeing resources should be available to everyone. Traditionally, the services we provide are offered behind a paywall. Our aim is to lower that paywall.

We do this simply by using the fund to cover the cost of personal training sessions, physio treatments and other health services to those with living with mental health challenges. For our fitness professionals, applicants will simply be another client to add to their calendar. For our applicants, this is an opportunity to feel all the benefits of guided exercise/movement without the financial burden.

Meanwhile, those who support/donate to the cause can do so safe in the knowledge that every penny in the fund will go towards administering and delivering fitness sessions which will benefit someone not only physically, but mentally.

The details

Stage one - Crowdfunding

Cutting the year into quarters, Access to Movement spends each three month period gathering funds through memberships, donations and other crowdfunding sites. At the end of the quarter, this leaves us with the budget for the following three months.

Stage two - Matching applicants with practitioners

While the crowdfunding continues the cycle for the following three month period, our team look through applications from individuals who are living with anxiety and/or depression. The budget from the previous quarter will be used to offer them sessions with qualified personal trainers, therapists and other fitness professionals - services they would otherwise struggle to access.

Stage three - Growth

While stages one and two continue to cycle on a quarterly basis, the goal is to expand the project over time. We will aim to continually increase our supporter base, allowing us to expand our quarterly budget which will in turn allow us to help more applicants and expand our team of trusted fitness professionals.
